HISTORICAL STUDEBAKER
DOCUMENT TO BE AUCTIONED
ON eBAY
SFNA was recently contacted by Ken McCrea informing us of this
upcoming auction. SFNA asked Mr. McCrea to give us a chance to let
the membership know about the availability of this document before
offering it for auction. He graciously agreed to do so.
I recently purchased (on eBay) an original land patent issued by the
State of Pennsylvania to Abraham STUDEBAKER in 1789 for land in
Westmoreland County, PA (a large document on vellum - animal skin,
signed by the first PA Governor, Thomas MIFFLIN). I have researched
the land and found that it is located along the south side of US Route
30 just below the town of Irwin. An adjoining tract of land belonged
to Valentine "Felty" WHITEHEAD (same surname as his wife), and
another to a Peter STUDEBAKER (possibly his brother).
According to WorldConnect, Valentine WHITEHEAD was a brother-
in-law of Abraham STUDEBAKER.
